cPanel File Manager includes text and code editors for small website-file changes.
Before you begin
Log in to the secure Gigatech client area at https://portal.gigatech.nl, open the relevant hosting service, and use the cPanel login action. cPanel labels can differ slightly by theme, version, and hosting configuration.
Steps
- Create a backup of the file you intend to change.
- Open cPanel, select File Manager, and navigate to the correct document root.
- Select the file and click Edit or Code Edit.
- Confirm the character encoding when cPanel asks for it.
- Make the smallest required change and click Save Changes.
- Test the affected page in a private browser window and check the cPanel error log if the page fails.
Important notes
- Do not edit WordPress core files for routine design changes; use the theme, child theme, or plugin controls instead.
- For substantial development work, use version control and a staging website.
