An inode represents a file or directory. A hosting account can reach its inode limit even when it still has free disk space.

Before you begin

Log in to the secure Gigatech client area at https://portal.gigatech.nl, open the relevant hosting service, and use the cPanel login action. cPanel labels can differ slightly by theme, version, and hosting configuration.

Steps

  1. Check the inode or file-count usage shown in cPanel or the service dashboard.
  2. Use File Manager or the Disk Usage interface to identify directories containing very large numbers of files.
  3. Review cache, session, temporary, backup, log, and old staging directories.
  4. Clear application caches with the application’s own maintenance tools.
  5. Delete obsolete backups and unused files only after creating any required external copy.
  6. Empty mail trash and spam folders where appropriate.
  7. Recheck usage and contact support when the count does not fall as expected.

Important notes

  • Do not run mass-deletion commands unless you understand the exact path and pattern.
  • A compromised website can generate thousands of files; investigate unusual growth rather than only deleting it.
