Restoring a website can overwrite current files, databases, email, and settings. Use the least destructive restore method available.
Before you begin
Log in to the secure Gigatech client area at https://portal.gigatech.nl, open the relevant hosting service, and use the cPanel login action. cPanel labels can differ slightly by theme, version, and hosting configuration.
Steps
- Confirm the backup date, contents, source, and integrity.
- Create a current backup before overwriting anything.
- Open cPanel and select Backup, Backup Wizard, or the provider’s restore tool.
- Choose the correct restore type: home directory, database, email, or full account.
- Upload or select the backup and start the restore only after confirming the destination.
- Wait for completion and avoid making simultaneous changes.
- Test the website, database connection, SSL, forms, and email after restoration.
Important notes
- Shared-hosting users may not be allowed to restore a full-account backup themselves; open a support ticket in that case.
- Restoring an old backup may also restore old vulnerabilities or outdated passwords.
Need help?
Open a Gigatech support ticket and include the domain, the exact action, the time of the issue, and any safe error message. Never send passwords, private keys, full database exports, or authentication secrets in a ticket.
