A database backup is essential before application upgrades, migrations, or database changes.

Before you begin

Log in to the secure Gigatech client area at https://portal.gigatech.nl, open the relevant hosting service, and use the cPanel login action. cPanel labels can differ slightly by theme, version, and hosting configuration.

Steps

  1. Open cPanel and select Backup or Backup Wizard.
  2. Under partial backups, locate Download a MySQL Database Backup.
  3. Click the required database name.
  4. Save the compressed backup file to a secure local location.
  5. Verify that the download completed and retain a second copy when the data is important.
  6. Record the database name and backup date so the file can be identified later.

Important notes

  • A database backup does not include website files or mailbox data.
  • Treat database backups as sensitive because they may contain personal data and credentials.

Need help?

Open a Gigatech support ticket and include the domain, the exact action, the time of the issue, and any safe error message. Never send passwords, private keys, full database exports, or authentication secrets in a ticket.
