Removing a domain from cPanel stops the hosting account from serving that domain, but it may not delete its website files automatically.
Before you begin
Log in to the secure Gigatech client area at https://portal.gigatech.nl, open the relevant hosting service, and use the cPanel login action. cPanel labels can differ slightly by theme, version, and hosting configuration.
Steps
- Back up the website, database, mail, and DNS information that must be retained.
- Open cPanel and select Domains.
- Find the additional domain or subdomain.
- Open Manage and choose Remove Domain.
- Verify the exact domain and document root, then confirm removal.
- Inspect the old document root manually and delete files only when you are certain they are not shared with another domain.
- Update DNS and external services as required.
Important notes
- Removing the domain from cPanel does not cancel its registration.
- Mailboxes and DNS records associated with the domain may require separate cleanup.
