Directory browsing can expose a list of files when a directory has no index page. cPanel can disable this listing.

Before you begin

Log in to the secure Gigatech client area at https://portal.gigatech.nl, open the relevant hosting service, and use the cPanel login action. cPanel labels can differ slightly by theme, version, and hosting configuration.

Steps

  1. Open cPanel and select Indexes in the Advanced section.
  2. Navigate to the website document root or the specific directory to protect.
  3. Click Edit for the directory.
  4. Select No Indexing.
  5. Save the setting.
  6. Test a directory without an index file and confirm that the server returns a forbidden response instead of a file list.

Important notes

  • Disabling directory listings does not protect files whose exact URLs are known. Apply correct permissions and access controls as well.
  • Some applications manage this through .htaccess; avoid conflicting directives.

Need help?

Open a Gigatech support ticket and include the domain, the exact action, the time of the issue, and any safe error message. Never send passwords, private keys, full database exports, or authentication secrets in a ticket.
